I love eating Dhal with jasmine rice and some spicy pickle or fried fish... yummy!
Ingredients:
Mysoor dhal 1 cup
Fresh Tomatoes 3 (cubes)
Onion 1 (thinly sliced)
Chinese Parsley 5 strands (finely chopped)
5 Fresh green chilies finely chopped or Cayane pepper 2 tablespoons
Oil 2 tablespoons
Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
Ginger & Garlic paste 2 tablespoons
Salt for taste
2 cup water
Use a deep dish to cook this yummy dhal. Heat the deep dish and add oil, and add the chopped onion and a handful of chinese parsley. Once the onions get soft add the turmeric powder and stir until golden brown. Now add the ginger & garlic paste and little water to avoid splatter, keep stiring and add the chopped green chilies or cayane pepper. Don't let the ingredients burn, keep stiring every few minutes add the tomotoes and cook for 3 minutes with lid on. After 3 minutes add the dhal and water, cover the lid again turn the heat to medium and let it cook. Make sure to occationally stir the dhal and add more water if needed. You know it is done when the dhal is cooked and it is not watery, taste it to make sure you have suffecient salt. Do not pour too much water, we want it thick and yummy.
Enjoy the dhal with some jasmine rice and fried fish or spicy pickle.....
